VICTOR ROJAS NAMED SODBUSTERS FIELD MANAGER

HASTINGS, NE —  The Hastings Sodbusters are pleased to announce that current Hastings College coach Victor Rojas will serve as the Sodbusters field manager in the team’s inaugural season in the Diamond Baseball League. 

Rojas arrived in Hastings in May 2025 after an extensive career as a player, coach, front office executive and broadcaster.

He played collegiately at College of the Desert, Piedmont College and Lewis-Clark State College and professionally with the California Angels.  He has coaching experience with the Florida Marlins and in the Texas-Louisiana League.

After leaving the professional playing/coaching field behind in 1995, Rojas transitioned into front-office leadership with positions spanning Arena League Football’s Anaheim Piranhas, Minor League Baseball with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the NHL’s Florida Panthers, arena management, and professional golf instruction.

In 2003, Rojas began an 18-year career in the Major League Baseball broadcast booth, with roles covering the Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, MLB Network, and Los Angeles Angels. His time with the Angels included 11 seasons as their television play-by-play voice, earning him a Los Angeles Area Emmy in 2018. After retiring from broadcasting in 2021, he served as President and General Manager of the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, for two seasons.

Since 2022, Rojas has worked for ESPN as play-by-play broadcaster for College Baseball. He has covered ACC, SEC, Big XII conference games as well as the Big XII conference tournament along with Regional & Super Regional action.

Victor and his wife Kimberly have three children and one grandchild. Their daughter Brianna and granddaughter RJ live in Southern California, their daughter Mattingly resides in Phoenix, and their son Tyler plays collegiate baseball at Hastings College.

The Diamond Baseball League begins its first season of play in May 2026 with teams in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri.  To learn more about the DBL, visit www.thedbl.com.
