Become a Host Family

HOST A PLAYER THIS SEASON

Host Families have a unique and vital role when it comes to allowing our players that reside outside of Hastings to play with us. Host Families provide our out-of-town players a home away from home for the duration of the active season.

With players balancing a hectic season schedule with 60+ games in less than 75 days, having a place to lay their head, rest, and recuperate is key. Our Host Families provide a welcoming place to sleep, do laundry, shower, and have the occasional meal.

Becoming a Host Family allows our players to connect with local families that are passionate about their hometown team and provides a variety of benefits to the hosting family and player alike.

  • Season Tickets and Benefits

    Host Families can enjoy: 

    • GOLD level season tickets for $180 (normally $300)
    • GREEN level season tickets for $150 (normally $240)
    • FREE General Admission tickets
    • OR $100 cash option

  • Host Family Expectations

    • Provide the player(s) with their own room and bed.
    • Provide the player with what your expectations are. Explain to them your “House Rules”. They are your guest, and have been instructed to adhere to what your rules are for your house.  They are expecting to have this conversation with you.
    • Provide basic food for your player. Easy “grab and go” items work well like bread, lunchmeat, peanut butter, milk, cereal, fruit, etc. An occasional home-cooked dinner with the family is also a nice treat for the player. Players know that they are ultimately responsible for their own meals, but we do ask that host families provide some basics if they are able. 
    • Provide a place for the player to do laundry. Players will be responsible to do their own laundry and will need to wash their uniforms upon completion of their games.
    • Please interact with your player! Many host families and players develop lifelong relationships!

  • Player Expectations

    Player Expectations:


    • Keep their room clean. Players are held responsible for any damage done while staying in your home.
    • Provide their own personal care items
    • Pay for their own expenses.
    • Maintain minimum noise levels while in your home. Be aware, players will be arriving home from road trips late at night / early morning. Please be aware that certain circumstances may arise which may result in players arriving after midnight.

    Be respectful, courteous and helpful to the host family.

  • Player Arrivals

    Depending on where your player is coming from, some players will drive to Hastings, while others will choose to fly. If your player opts to fly to Hastings, we kindly ask the Host Family to pick up their player from airport. It is the responsiblity of the Host Family to coordinate plans directly with their player. If you need any help, please let us know. 

  • Alcohol

    The Hastings Sodbusters do not allow Host Families to provide alcohol to players regardless of their age. If yoyu are hosting a player over the age of 21, please be direct and clear as to what your "house rules" are regarding alcohol.
